SmartED: A New Stage in Preparing Future Teachers

A dialogue dedicated to competency-based teacher education was held at the Uzbekistan National Pedagogical University in cooperation with UNESCO, the Islamic Development Bank, and the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.

Participants discussed the development of a unified approach to preparing teachers who can meet the needs of modern schools, possess strong practical skills and professional experience, and align teacher education with international standards.

It was also noted that several initiatives being implemented at our university under the SmartED project are helping future teachers become more closely connected with real school life. These include a digitalized teaching practice platform, the “One Student – One Mentor Teacher” principle, and the 4+2 training model.

The parties exchanged views on introducing advanced international best practices and improving the teacher training system, while also identifying key priorities and future tasks for cooperation.
