Competency-Based Teaching Practicum Model Presented

As part of the SmartEd project, an event was held dedicated to improving teaching practicum. The event focused on issues related to helping future teachers transition from theoretical knowledge to practice, effectively preparing them to work in real school environments, and strengthening the content of teaching practicum.

During the event, a 4+2 teaching practicum model based on a competency-based approach and developed specifically for Uzbekistan was presented. The model is designed to establish a strong link between the theoretical knowledge students acquire at university and their practical activities in schools, while supporting the gradual development of their teaching competencies.

From 22 to 25 September, training sessions in this area are being conducted under the guidance of international teaching practicum expert Eleyne Sharplin. Specialists from Nizami National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan and 12 pedagogical higher education institutions, as well as teachers from schools affiliated with these institutions, are taking part in the sessions.
