2030 Agenda: SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation
Access to clean water and safe sanitation is essential to health, dignity, and quality education. As an institution training future teachers, The National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan named after Nizami treats responsible water stewardship as part of its educational mission, preparing graduates who carry water-conscious values into schools and communities across Uzbekistan. In line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 6, NPUU combines reliable infrastructure, high sanitation standards, and ongoing environmental initiatives across its campus.
Mission
The National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan named after Nizami is committed to promoting sustainable water use, protecting water resources, and preparing future teachers to instill water conservation values in the next generation.
Vision
To be a model institution where responsible water management and water-conscious education prepare graduates to lead sanitation and hygiene initiatives across Uzbekistan's communities and schools.
Priorities
Ensuring uninterrupted access to clean water
Upholding consistently high hygiene and sanitation standards
Modernizing water and sanitation infrastructure
Minimizing water loss through continuous monitoring
Encouraging a culture of responsible water use
Supporting campus ecological sustainability

Areas of Activity
- Water Supply, Sanitation and System Reliability NPUU ensures stable, uninterrupted water supply across campus through a centralized system, with 24/7 access guaranteed in all student dormitories. Drinking water points and dispensers are installed throughout academic buildings and residential facilities, giving students and staff reliable access without interruption.
- Sanitation infrastructure comprises 336 toilets and 177 washrooms distributed across the university campus, maintained to consistently high hygiene standards. In 2025, the university renovated 14 buildings, upgrading water and sanitation systems as part of broader infrastructure modernization.
- The system is monitored on a 24/7 basis by dedicated technical staff, who conduct regular inspections and respond promptly to maintenance issues, ensuring continuous and reliable operation.
- Water Resource Management, Monitoring and Sustainable Use NPUU applies a systematic approach to water resource management, prioritizing continuous monitoring, preventive maintenance and rational use. Regular technical inspections enable early detection of issues and minimize water loss across campus.
- In 2025, 14 buildings were renovated, with internal water supply systems, pipelines and sanitation infrastructure updated - improving overall water use efficiency.
- The university also promotes responsible water use among students and staff through regular awareness campaigns. As part of broader environmental initiatives, 1,620 trees were planted in 2025, supporting campus ecology and sustainable resource management.
Key Achievements
- Centralized water and sanitation infrastructure ensuring reliable, uninterrupted campus-wide access.
- 24/7 water supply guaranteed in all student dormitories.
- Drinking water points and dispensers installed across academic and residential buildings.
- 336 toilets and 177 washrooms maintained to consistently high hygiene standards.
- 14 buildings renovated in 2025, upgrading water supply, pipelines, and sanitation systems.
- 1,620 trees planted in 2025, supporting campus ecology and sustainable resource management.
- 24/7 technical monitoring with prompt response to maintenance issues.

Impact
Sustained investment in infrastructure has given NPUU a reliable, well-monitored water and sanitation system. Renovating 14 buildings in 2025, alongside 24/7 technical monitoring, has strengthened the university's ability to prevent and resolve issues quickly. Maintaining 336 toilets and 177 washrooms to a consistent standard reflects the scale of this commitment, while planting 1,620 trees in 2025 shows that water stewardship at NPUU extends into broader ecological responsibility.
